TURF HOUSE 6.jpeg

Curved House 2002 was a baptism by fire but building this House under the watchful gaze of Kevin McCloud was one of the best periods in our young family life and we are happy to have it immortalised on Channel 4’s Grand Designs. { the original is much better than the revisit} should you chance upon it. It remains our family home.

Red Kite Green Tent (Ynys Affalon) was inspired by the isle of Afallon [apples] from Arthurian legend and my beautiful daughter Avalon. Wy y Draig the Dragon’s Egg, the second tree tent, was where David took the theme of glamping and the canopy and created a magical series of sweeping decks and hand painted mythical panels. We hope there is a sense of a medieval field tent within. It has been a runaway success.

Llareggub: Beach House Is a special place for us. It has been our family home for 50 years.. Its a mid century modern house where the sea views make every room make it a visual treat but it was a bastard to convert NGL, with every member of our family contributing their half pence worth. But…we got there in the end.

Red Kite Red Tent (Dragon’s Egg) 2012 When my mother in law was dying I started searching for more of a connection with nature and trees. I wanted a tree house and contacted someone in America who had made a spherical wooden tree tent. HE said he was working with Jason Thawley from Tree Tent international who, it turned out was working with C4 Amazing Spaces on this prototype. George Clarke came for his first visit in September 2012 and we aired on the first ever series.

Moon Conker Chillderness is working with Jag on modifying a second Moon Conker, fashioned on an observatory with 5 extra windows in the roof space to watch the incredible Dark Skies, Milky Way and frequent meteor showers which can see over the Elan Valley. North Star views also wonderful. Ready August 2021. This is positioned River Side and the intention is to make it totally off grid and develop various interactive off grid power responses. Be prepared to heat your own baths…

Red Kite Barn 2005 Out of the passion for building we had felt when constructing the Curved House, we got in touch with David’s inner Welshman when we bought this magical 121 Acre forest and derelict barn. These first two projects threw us entirely new but different challenges, making roads and bridges and installing renewable energy as well as using our own home milled timber in the hostile Cambrian mountains. Rented from 2012.

Red Kite Earth Conker 2019 - Dropped through the email ether. Bentley Engineer and fellow Sub-continental Jag Virdie came the Conker which seemed like such a good idea. A new prototype but one which could serve us to provide the public, mad to glamp, in the winter too. It was another first, not easy in the freezing Cambrian weather in January and needed a lot of snagging, but EVENTUALLY the finished result caught the popular imagination and has been featured in numerous publications as well as Amazing Spaces, This Morning, and soon to be Escape to the Country….. which ..INSPIRED

Mor Y Mor is being added to the collection in summer 2021. We hope to make it our finest architectural construct yet. But not just yet… Watch this space. In the meantime enjoy the virtually deserted beach and coastal views from this spacious 70’s 5 bed Pembrokeshire Southfork.
